"I first met Warren in Seattle at the turn of the century. Since then he has been sending me cassettes, and later files, of his home recordings which I have been subtly imploring he should release in one format or another. While there are vast archives of material, this batch of instrumental sketches was captured this year in his apartment in the Pico Union neighborhood in Los Angeles. Some of the melodies have been gestating for 20 years, others recently summoned by life in the land of broken dreams. Indeed, a classical guitar found on Albany Street within the discarded belongings of a Mariachi features prominently here. The pieces themselves were recorded quickly with minimal attention paid to editing and mixdowns: this is the sound of a virtuoso guitarist in the state of creation- and hopefully a small window into the inspiration that guides his path and our work as Pacific Horizons."
